Skip McGrath, successful eBay Powerseller and author of hot selling how-to's for eBay sellers including New Basic Seller's Guide to eBay, Complete eBay Marketing System and Online Auction Photo Secrets did a test on whether having voice messages in your auction will increase sales. Pretty interesting! Here's the scoop:
"Last month I told you about Seller's Voice, a system for putting audio in your auctions. I promised you a test. Here are the results. As you can see the results are amazing. Both final values and the number of bids were higher. I easily made up the cost of an entire month's service in just these four auctions.
It is very simple to add the audio to your auction. First write down what you want to say, so you can read it smoothly without stumbling. Next you call a toll-free number and enter your account number. Now record your message into the telephone. You will have a chance to listen and edit the message if you are not satisfied. When you finish recording, go back to the Seller's Voice web site and click on a link to your recording. Up comes some HTML code that you just copy/paste into your auction item description. Seller's Voice is an eBay API and certified service provider. They are working on a system that will be introduced soon where you can just enter the auction number at the end of the phone recording and the audio will be automatically placed in your auction.
